Bridge Refugee Services is Hiring a Volunteer Coordinator Near Chattanooga, TN
Job Description:
The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains, and provides technical support to volunteers who are willing to get involved in refugee resettlement programs. This is a full-time position. Some weeknights and weekends are required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to the community and faith-based organizations to ensure sufficient volunteer capacity to assist refugees with the resettlement process.
- Recruit, orient, train, and place volunteers and student interns according to the needs of Bridge’s various programs and projects.
- Provide on-going support and training to active volunteers and student interns. Engage with prospective and active volunteers to maintain their interest and involvement.
- Create opportunities for volunteer feedback regarding their service experience; review and implement changes to improve programmatic outcomes based on this feedback.
- Develop a weekly volunteer assignment schedule based on the needs of the clients and volunteer availability.
- Track and document volunteer hours, mileage, and activities to ensure that all relevant information has been accurately recorded and reported.
- Manage and keep up-to-date volunteer files, databases, and resource materials for volunteers.
- Work closely with Youth Mentoring Coordinator and Capacity Building and Integration Specialist to secure volunteers/mentors for their programs.
- Manage in-kind donations.
- Plan and coordinate volunteer appreciation events.
- Participate in ongoing training opportunities offered locally and nationally as approved by Associate Director.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by the Associate Director.
- Bachelors degree in related field.
- Familiarity with refugee issues and US resettlement preferred.
- Ability to operate effectively with diverse population.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience managing others and delegating tasks.
- Experience in a volunteer setting.
- Experience with networking and community outreach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and experience with database reporting.
- Ability to frequently sit for lengthy periods of time and ability to lift to 40 lbs.
